The courses in this online program of 60 credits examines the social work throughout the life and emphasize the cultural competence to work effectively with diverse populations in different geographical environments.

The curriculum is divided into two levels: general and advanced. Curriculum generalist required include knowledge, values, skills and processes essential to the practice of social work. Includes methods of social work theory of human development, social policy and research methods. This knowledge base is based on the plan of studies advanced that it is found both in the specialization in Children and Families as in the specialization in Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

This course will examine the basic theories, dynamics, functions, policies, and ethics associated with the management of public and private services, child welfare, analyzed and reviewed with a particular focus on the knowledge, skills and competences necessary to successfully lead organizations that provide such services in the current environment and future.

This course covers the major problems of the children and at-risk youth, including problems with cognitive, communication, behavioral and emotional disorders of attachment, trauma, substance abuse and developmental disabilities that are listed in the DSM current.

l course examines federal and state laws that govern the funding and operation of the systems of child welfare; the history of child welfare policies; and the forces-legal, political and social-that influence the structure and function of the systems of child welfare in the united States.

this course will cover the theories and treatments of trauma, and perform a critical examination in depth of the different populations affected by the trauma, including survivors of child abuse, war veterans, survivors of domestic violence, victims of accidents or crimes, and the schools and communities that are devastated by the abuse, neglect and addiction.
